Following up a research paper in college I had gathered quite large amount of information on enforcing court ordered judgments in the California area, as many areas handle the specifics of judgment recovery differently. I figured the best way to share this information was to make a blog helping other people learn how to enforce on a judgment that is ordered to them.
What is a judgment?
When collecting a judgment in California it is important to know what a judgment is.
A judgment is the final decision made by the court in a suit, whether in favor of the plaintiff or the defendant. If the plaintiff wins, the decision includes the amount of money awarded.
Even if the plaintiff wins the judgment, collection of the monetary award might not take place right away. This is due to the fact that California courts do not collect judgment money for you; which I’m sure you’ve learned the hard way by now.
